As I am getting ready for Father’s Day weekend as a pastor I am thinking about godly men.  I know in my own life there has been some men who have greatly influenced and touched my life.  Over the past ten years it is clear to me that many things have changed - Morals, values, beliefs, the church, the home and a man’s place in his families & in the world.

It is very concerning to me to see many men would have given up their right to lead.  Many men have given over to the pressures of this world.  Many find themselves coping and trying to survive only to turn to escapism.  This simply means that they want to escape from daily reality or routine by indulging in daydreaming, fantasy, or entertainment. 

I know we live in challenging times.  I am a man and I must work harder than ever before to stay pure and keep myself hid in Christ.  What does that mean?  Everyday I have to spend time in the Word, in prayer, and be proactive in what I watch, listen to and even in the relationships that I form.  I guess you might say I have to be on guard 24/7.  

What are you doing to become godly man?  I am learning if I will just be who Christ has made me to be and quit trying to become.  I will become godly by the nature of being in Christ.  That may sound to simple but it is that easy if we learn to be!   God wants us to be godly men because our wives need us to be godly, our children need us to be godly, the church needs us to be godly and yes the world needs godly men!  Great men aren’t built in a day but they are built daily.

Let’s become godly men, great men of valour that will impact and influence their world for the cause of Christ!!!  Will you join me?
